We've had bad games before...

We start strong. The offense moves, the defense holds, and everything feels under control. Then something shifts. The opponent adjusts, what worked stops working, and suddenly we’re searching instead of executing.

That’s where games turn. Not because we don’t have good plays—but because we don’t know how to adapt when the game demands it. And when we fall behind that curve, we start reacting instead of controlling.

Adjustments aren’t optional. They’re the difference between winning and winning consistently.

Why isn't anything working?

If we’re running the same things and expecting different results, the problem isn’t the play—it’s the approach. The opponent is reacting to what we’re doing, and if we’re not responding, we’re handing them the advantage.

Adjustments don’t happen by accident. They come from understanding what’s happening on the field and recognizing if and when something needs to change. Without that awareness, we stay one step behind.

The question isn’t whether adjustments matter. The question is whether we’re prepared to make them when it counts.  If we want different outcomes, we have to start approaching those situations differently.

This Isn’t Guesswork

Adjusting isn’t about trying something random new every drive—it’s about understanding what’s happening and making the right change at the right time. MaddenUniversity has been breaking down adjustments through real gameplay and real scenarios for years.

When something has been tested and refined over time, it stops being a reaction—and becomes part of how we play.  What feels unfair in the moment usually comes down to something we didn’t account for. Once we see it clearly, it stops being a problem.

When we learn a system for how to adjust, we stop guessing what’s wrong and start to identify it in real time. We see how the defense is reacts, how the offense is adapts, and what needs to change to stay ahead.

Instead of forcing what worked in earlier games, we evolve within the game we are playing. We make small changes that have big impact, and stay one step ahead; instead of falling behind.

This is where the game slows down. We’re not overwhelmed—we’re prepared.  We replace frustration with understanding.
